Utility Contacts
The City operates the local water, sewer, and garbage utilities. You should contact the Water Billing department (815) 747-3416 to setup your account. We now are accepting credit card payments with a convenience fee.
All other utilities are operated by private businesses. Listed below are numbers of our local utility providers; please contact them directly to set up your account or if you have any concerns.

GARBAGE & RECYCLING GUIDE
Collection is on Wednesday morning. Please have garbage and recycling out by 6 a.m.
Garbage:
(3) 33 gallon garbage cans or plastic bags, maximum weight 40 lbs. All extra bags require pickup tags available at city Hall. Cost is $1.00 per bag.
Building materials and demolition waste are not included in our contract. Arrangements must be made for pickup and/or dumpster. Fees apply.
Yard Waste:
We cannot accept yard waste. You are allowed to burn yard waste on your property.
Recycling:
Paper Products: Clean & Dry newspapers, magazines, catalogues, brochures, cardboard boxes, paper grocery bags, home or office papers will be accepted. NO food contaminated cardboard or pop/beer cases are allowed. ALL cardboard boxes must be broken down. Do not use as a container.
Aluminum: Only aluminum cans
Tin cans: All clean tin cans are accepted
Plastic containers: Only plastice jugs, bottles or containers with the #1 PET or #2 HDPE in the recycling symbol will be accepted. Usually found on the bottom of the container.
Glass: Only unbroken clear, brown or green glass that contained a food or beverage will be accepted.
PLEASE use recycling bin or plastic toter for your recyclables.
Appliances: Please call 563-556-5393 to schedule pickup of appliances usually the 2nd Monday of the month.
Any garbage or recycling not picked up must be tagged by the Contractor.
